This training will prepare professional interpreters for mental health therapy assignments and will cover the following topics:

Review of ethics and confidentiality in person, by phone, by video

Role of interpreter in therapy session, therapeutic triad, and boundaries

Clarification of interpreter protocol in therapy sessions

Mental health terminology and concepts

Review of suicide protocols

Therapy approaches (talk therapy, creative therapy, therapeutic tools)

Self-awareness and professional boundaries

Scenario practice and discussion

Vicarious trauma and self-care
